Chennai Police Investigate Cyber Fraud Targeting Ex-DGP’s Wife, Loses Rs 90,000
Police are investigating a case where Kamalie the wife of late DGP S Sripal, former City Police Commissioner of Chennai was scammed out of Rs 90,000 by cybercriminals.
Kamalie lives in T Nagar, she received a call on Tuesday from a person pretending to be a Mumbai police officer. She got trapped in that call.
The caller falsely informed her that her mobile number was linked to illegal activities and would be deactivated within two hours. They also threatened Kamalie that they would arrest her if she did not comply. After then caller told her if she wanted to prove her money that it was not involved in unlawful actions, then she have to transfer Rs 90,000 from her bank account.

Kamalie believed that false call and transferred the money. But as soon as she spoke with her family and friends she realized that it was a scam and then she filed a complaint with the police. Authorities are now investigating the case.
