Ceasefire violated by Pakistan in J&K’s Kupwara, two soldiers martyred and four injured

On Thursday, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in an unprovoked fashion along the LOC (Line of Control) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Naugam sector, Kupwara. Indian Army gave a befitting response but ended up getting two soldiers martyred.
“Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Naugam sector, Kupwara on Thursday morning by firing mortars and other weapons,” said Defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia. Kalia reported that two soldiers were martyred and four were injured in the firing from across the border. “The injured personnel are being evacuated while a befitting response is being given to the Pakistani firing,” he added. The deceased soldier has been identified as Lance Naik Karnail Singh. The White Knight Corps’ General Officer Commanding and all ranks paid their tributes to the deceased soldier.

The incident happened a day after a soldier was killed in a small arms unprovoked firing and intense shelling of mortars by troops from Pakistan in Krishna Ghati sector of J&K’s Poonch district. September month witnessed an increase in unprovoked firing from Pakistan along the LOC in Jammu and Kashmir. On September 14, three army personnel, including a Major, were injured in an unprovoked mortar shelling and small arms firing from Pakistani troops along the LoC in Rajouri district
