Bollywood’s Diwali Blockbusters: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again Cross ₹200 Crore Combined Weekend Collection
An unprecedented battle occurred during the Diwali weekend at the box office in which Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again were two big Bollywood movies that helped turn the cash registers. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the final figures of both the films which clearly states that both the films earned more than ₹200 crore in their first weekend of domestic box office collections. This grand performance is one of the booming Diwali weekends in the recent history of Bollywood that confirms the rapid growth of the film industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 which is directed by Anees Bazmee showed a great hold over the weekend after its release. It grossed ₹35.5 crores on Friday and rose even further to ₹37 crores on Saturday. Sunday released ₹33.5 crores taking the total collection of the movie nationally to ₹106 crores in just three days.
Among the two cop universe films both Singham Again directed by Rohit Shetty stars Ajay Devgn performing as Bajirao Singham did better than Sooryavanshi. The big-budget action drama took an opening of ₹ 43.5 crores on Friday, followed by ₹42.5 crores of business on Saturday and ₹35 crores on Sunday, thus grossing a whooping ₹ 121 crores on the domestic three days of the opening weekend.
The fact that both films have been successful means that there is quite a healthy turnover in the theatrical business in India. Scholars within the entertainment industry opine that even though each movie offered films of different genres directed at different target niche markets, they were able to carve market niches for themselves at the box office without severely truncating each other’s market share.
The two films have gone on to post great opening weekend figures which have placed them in a position to possibly become part of the year’s biggest grossing films. Thanks to the word of mouth and the Diwali week that is still to come both the movies should sustain their good run for the week.
