PM Modi addressed the election meeting in UP’s Jaunpur on Thursday. He claimed that voting in UP so far has confirmed the victory of the BJP alliance.
PM Modi said, “We have to ensure that the victory of the BJP is as grand as it was in 2017.”
PM Modi also praised the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government. PM Modi also targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) in the meeting. He reportedly said that the BJP government was needed in the state to ensure Jaunpur is “mafia-free”.
Nishad Party founder, Sanjay Nishad, who is in alliance with BJP, also said that the BJP will win over 300 seats. BJP MP and former Union minister Shiv Pratap Shukla, also confirmed that the BJP will win the election.
The sixth phase of the voting was held today for 57 seats across ten districts of the UP including Gorakhpur, Ballia, Kushinagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Deoria. Polling for the sixth phase of the elections began at 7 am today.
Reportedly, 676 candidates are in the fray. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Congress’ Ajay Kumar Lallu, and Samajwadi Party’s Swami Prasad Maurya are battling to win the UP election. CM Yogi is fighting his first Assembly polls from Gorakhpur Urban. Lallu is contesting from Tamkuhi Raj seat. Maurya, who joined the Samajwadi Party, is contesting from Fazilnagar.
According to The Indian Express, a turnout of 55.76% was recorded on February 27 in the fifth phase of the UP polls for 61 seats across 12 districts. The seventh and final phase will be held on March 7. Reportedly, the results will be declared on March 10.
