Biparjoy Cyclone: IMD Issues High Alert For Mumbai And Gujarat Coasts
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of the extensive damaging potential of cyclone ‘Biparjoy’. It is likely to bring heavy rains & landfalls.
An extremely powerful cyclonic storm named Cyclone Biparjoy is predicted to hit the coast of Gujarat in India on June 15, 2023.
In the last five years, the state has been hit by four major cyclones, including the most recent one. The previous cyclones were Vayu in 2019, Nisarga in 2020, and Tauktae in 2021.
Evacuation efforts are currently underway as a cyclone approaches, with thousands of individuals being relocated to safer areas.

Salt spray from the cyclone may cause visibility problems, making navigation challenging for individuals.
Cyclone Biparjoy’s impact extends beyond Gujarat. Impacts are expected in twelve districts of Rajasthan, which include Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur.

Precautionary measures are underway to safeguard the safety of the areas affected. Over 12,000 individuals have been evacuated from at-risk areas like Kutch and Dwarka as part of ongoing efforts to ensure their safety.
