The digital version of the Ayushman Bharat scheme is all set for national rollout after receiving approval from the cabinet on Saturday. The digital part was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September last year.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has hit the final by the approval it received from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) with a budget of ₹1600 crore for five years. The cabinet meeting was headed by the Prime Minister himself.
The Union Cabinet concluded the meeting saying, “The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission of the Ministry of health and family welfare will be rolled out across the country with a budget of ₹1600 crore for five years.”
The cabinet also concluded that it will be the responsibility of the National Health Authority (NHA) to implement the scheme on ground. The statement further went on to explain that with this scheme, citizens will be able to create their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers so that their health records can be linked to it digitally.
The government stressed that this will help in making it easier for the authorities to create longitudinal health records of people across several health providers. This will further help in improving clinical decisions taken by their respective medical professionals.
The scheme falls under Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya minister and post the meeting, he thanked the Prime Minister for the ideation.
