AVIA Report: YouTube and Meta Garnered 89% Online Viewership & 57% Online Revenue in India
India has a larger population of social media users and they consume a vast range of contents every day about different categories. The recent report of AVIA (Asia Video Industry Association) confirms this factor with 89% of online viewership and 57% of online revenue garnered by YouTube and Meta in India. This is consolidated after the continuous observance of the first nine months of 2024. The number of YouTube channels in India surpasses every year and the popularity of leading content makers are rising too. This shows the interest of viewers who spend their time on such social media platforms.
The Video focused features of Meta has aided their growth in recent years and the SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) has grown from 110 million to 120 million from 2023 to 2024. The report also points out the key features of the video industry in India which are a coalition of AVIA with government and tech providers against the piracy and to control illegal services, promotion of ad-supported premium content, effective brand safe advertising, profound regional markets, and modern regulations.
