Anushka Sharma & Virat Kohli raise over Rs 11 crore for India COVID relief in one week since starting the fundraiser
Celebrity power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had announced a fundraiser on May 7 for Covid-19 relief in India’s second wave that is wreaking havoc across nation. On Friday, May 14 that marked seven days to the fundraiser, the couple announced end of the campaign on their social media platforms.
The celebrities thanked their fans for joining the campaign and doing their bit to support India during these testing times. Anushka and Virat said that the fundraiser has crossed the goal of Rs 11 crore, thanks to all contributors. The funds would go to ACT Grants, a Covid-19 relief organization.
On Friday, Anushka and Virat posted on their Instagram accounts, “Hello everyone. We thank you for your invaluable contribution. Our Ketto campaign has now come to an end. We have surpassed our target. Thanks to you, all the funds will be going to ACT Grants who are working tirelessly for Covid relief in our country. Your contribution will help our country fight the pandemic, and it wouldn’t be possible without your support.”
The influential couple further urged the people of India to get vaccinated on earliest available opportunity, continue wearing masks and follow social distancing. They said, “Let us continue doing our bit to protect each other — wear a mask, sanitize regularly, follow social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as possible. Jai Hind!”
