Reliance Industries Board selects Anant Ambani as their Executive Director from 1 May 2025

Anant Ambani has been appointed as Executive Director of Reliance Industries for 5 years effective from 1 May 2025. The move, approved by the company’s Board of Directors is an important one as the Ambani family are currently the biggest business conglomerates with Reliance Industries in India.
Anant Ambani is currently serving as a Non – Executive Director along with his siblings Isha Ambani and Akash Ambani will now take over the role as a whole time Executive Director in a leadership position.
In order to achieve the company’s sustainability goals, Anant Ambani was appointed earlier as the head of Energy Sustainability to become a new-zero carbon company by 2035. This includes focusing more on production of clean fuels and products, developing advanced carbon capture amenities and technologies, promoting circular materials, and enhancing crude-to-chemicals conversion.
Anant Ambani has experience serving on the Board of Jio Platforms since March of 2020, Reliance Retail Ventures since May 2022, and both Reliance New Energy and Reliance New Solar Energy since June 2021. He is now the first Ambani sibling to be appointed as Executive Director of Reliance Industries.
Isha Ambani has been heading the Reliance Retail Business while her twin brother Akash Ambani has been the Chairman of Reliance Telecom Unit, Jio Infocomm since 2022. While Anant Ambani’s rise to Reliance Industries’ board, domestic advisory firm Institutional Investor Advisory Services was voted against by the Board of Members citing his age and the company’s policy, an US-based Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) had also raised concerns over his limited leadership experience of six years, as reported by Bloomberg.
