An Intense Depression over South East of Bay of Bengal will bring heavy rain to the Southern States of India : IMD
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), has observed a depression which is moving to the southeast Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area.
“An upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas around 21st November. It is likely to move to west-northwestwards and become a low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal around 23rd November. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over southwest Bay of Bengal during subsequent 2 days.
A continuous watch is being maintained for further intensification and movement of the system towards Tamil Nadu – Sri Lanka coasts.” – IMD
In the next 48 hours, this low pressure is expected to turn into a cyclonic storm to the southern states of India. Puducherry and Tamil Nadu are expected to encounter this powerful storm on November 28 and 29 respectively. The storm will turn into a heavy rainfall over these two states, followed by a moderate to heavy rainfall in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh from November 30 to December 3, 2024.
The farmers of Andhra Pradesh have been advised to harvest earlier before the rainfall.
“North Andhra Pradesh may also see light to moderate rains during the same period. Crops ready for harvesting in these regions should be harvested immediately” said S.Stella, Director, Amaravati, IMD.
All the state governments of Southern India are preparing themselves with quick actions against the forthcoming storm and the unpredictable heavy rainfall.
