In Belfast’s second T20I match against Afghanistan, Andy Balbirnie took the initiative and hit 46 off 36 balls to help Ireland surpass its modest 123-run mark and defeat Afghanistan by five wickets. The current 2-0 series lead belongs to the home team.

The bowlers from Ireland, Josh Little, Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, and Gareth Delany each grabbed two wickets as Afghanistan struggled to bat after winning the toss.
After 20 overs, the visitors had 122 for eight. Hashmatullah Shahidi led the team in scoring with 36 points on 42 balls.
However, captain Andy Balbirnie with Lorcan Tucker shared 65 runs for the 2nd wicket, with Balbirnie scoring 46 from 36 balls and Tucker making 27 from 28, before Ireland lost their opener Paul Stirling (4) in the 3rd over with only 7 runs scored.
For Afghanistan, Mohammad Nabi took two for 15, but Ireland was able to reach its goal with one over remaining due to George Dockrell undefeated 25.
Andy Balbirnie said,
“I was able to give myself some space and profit from it. You don’t experience fatigue when pursuing a low total. He’s having fun (Tucker). He’s handling the third spot there really well. We’ll likely also take a swing during the post-match awards ceremony.”
Further Andy added,
“This endeavor to limit Afghanistan to 120 is excellent. It was doing enough to keep them going, according to the word coming from behind the stumps.
You have to constantly remind yourself of your former successes. You don’t play poorly at all. a strong sense of teamwork. We play the game with hopes of winning the series.”
