Abu Dhabi grabs first spot for its Covid-19 response
Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, has grabbed first spot among 50 countries for its Covid-19 response. With Abu Dhabi, Dubai has also managed its position in the top five.
The UAE city has been credited for the fast response it showed in tackling the coronavirus pandemic along with ensuring a safer environment for the public. It not only managed to provide first hand treatment to the residents, but also ensured a blistering economy even during this time.
The UAE has been immensely successful when it comes to administering vaccines to its people on a priority basis. It became one of the first countries to start the administration of vaccines and quickly covered most of its population making it safer for the rest of its population.
Not only this but the emirate was also appreciated for its efforts to provide government services along with efficient management of quarantine facilities in a report titled ‘Ranking of the Safest Cities during the Covid-19 Pandemic for the Second Quarter of 2021.’
The report was prepared by the analytics consortium Deep Knowledge Group in London. But did you know that it is not the first time that the city has topped such a study; even last year, in April, a study showed the city being the most efficient in tackling the pandemic.
It has beaten cities like Singapore, Seoul, Tel Aviv and Dubai to grab the first position in 2020 and this year too, it started number one when it came to the ranking. Not only did the city successfully vaccinate the majority of its population, it also conducted mass testing as its prime response to the pandmeic outburst.
Ahead of the free administration of vaccines, the officials were determined about conducting mass testing, which was the first step to identifying the extent of virus spread in the city and what necessary precautions needed to be taken with that in mind.
In a tweet, Deep Knowledge Analytics revealed that the study has been conducted in 8000 data points, 114 indicators, 5 qualitatively distinct categories, 50 cities & municipalities globally.
Strict precautionary measures and steps by the Abu Dhabi officials have made sure that the city remains safe even when the world was seeing rise in the Covid-19 infections. The Abu Dhabi media government office released an official statement after it was known to the achievement which said, “Abu Dhabi topped the ranking due to measures that contributed to enhancing the speed and effectiveness of its response to the pandemic.”
Not only Abu Dhabi but the country in general has one of the best records and numbers when it comes to ensuring public safety above everything else. The death rates of the nation are also one of the lowest in the entire world.
