A Sherlock Style Mystery That Keeps You Guessing “Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse” Movie Review

A failed former police officer who is now a detective named Dominic, the role played by Mammootty is restricted to handling little and unimportant cases. In the meantime, he takes on a case that seems straightforward which is finding the owner of a lost purse. This leads Dominic and his helper Vignesh by Gokul Suresh into a troubling web of discoveries that includes a murder, a stalker, a missing persons case and a mysterious story of a dancer named Nandhita.
Even though the plot is very familiar, it offers the audience something new and different because an investigative narrative of this kind has been severely lacking on screen. The story is essentially a case of small details leading into big revelations as in the case of classic detective stories that we may have been used to read in classics like Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot stories and even in parts, a little humorous in its approach like The Pink Panther’s Inspector Clouseau.
The film’s biggest originality feature is that it’s a pleasant and enjoyable mystery thriller that has been presented and packaged differently from what we’ve been used to from the genre lately. Together with a compelling narrative and a star who does a fantastic job portraying the title character, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse is undoubtedly a captivating theatrical experience in terms of both visual and intellectual storytelling.
The movie is a satisfying mystery thriller that reminded me of those fond summer hours spent reading a mystery book by Arthur Conan Doyle.
