6.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Nepal, Tremors Felt In Delhi
A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal & killed 6 people. Some tremors were also felt in the regions of Delhi & NOIDA around 2 am on 9th November (Wednesday).
An earthquake of 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Nepal, killing at least six people in a house collapse incident in Doti district on Wednesday. The tremors were felt in parts of the Delhi-NCR region as well.
The Chief District Officer of Doti, Kalpana Shrestha, confirmed the death of at least six people and injuries to five.
“At least six people were killed and five were injured and were being taken to the hospital. Dozens of houses have been damaged with landslides at various locations across the district,” the official was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The quake hit at around 1.57 am on Wednesday. The epicenter was Nepal, according to the National Center for Seismology.
This was the third earthquake in Nepal in the last five hours. As per data on National Center for Seismology, Nepal registered the first earthquake of 4.9 magnitude at 8.52 pm on Tuesday, followed by 3.5 magnitude at 9.41 pm.
The third earthquake of 6.3 magnitude hit the country at 1.57 am on Wednesday, tremors of which were felt in Delhi in the Doti district of Nepal following the earthquake.
Strong tremors were also felt in several parts of North India, including Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. However, no loss of life, injury or damage, has been reported so far.
Several users in the national capital and surrounding regions took to social media platforms after the tremors were felt for a few seconds.
This was the second earthquake that Nepal has witnessed in 24 hours. Before this, on Tuesday morning, 8 November, an earthquake of 4.5 magnitude had hit the country.
