2024 Assembly Elections: Maharashtra and Jharkhand Results Decoded
As postal ballots for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections were being counted, the NDA currently in the lead in Maharashtra and JMM in Jharkhand.
On November 20, Maharashtra held a single phase of voting for 288 seats. Jharkhand’s 81 seats were up for voting in two rounds on November 13 and 20. On November 23, the Election Commission of India started calculating the votes in both states at 8 a.m.
As counting begins on November 23, the Mahayuti alliance is leading with more than 211 seats in the 288 member Maharashtra assembly as per the preliminary trends. According to early indicators, the MVA leads on 66 seats.
In Maharashtra 145 seats constitute the majority mark. The Mahayuti are on track to regain power in Maharashtra if the current trends continue.
According to early trends, the JMM led INDIA alliance is leading by 49 seats. In Jharkhand, the majority score is 41 with BJP being 29.
Mahayuti vs MVA In Maharashtra:
In Maharashtra, the contest is bipolar. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seeks to overthrow the state’s ruling alliance while the Bharatiya Janata Party led Mahayuti alliance runs to hold onto power in Maharashtra.
The BJP, JSS, RSVA, RYSP, Ajit Pawar’s NCP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena make up the Mahayuti. Sharad Pawar’s NCP-SP and PWPI, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Congress were all constituents of the MVA.
NDA vs INDIA In Jharkhand:
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is facing off against Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM and its INDIA bloc partners in Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, the Congress, the JMM, the CPI(ML)L and the RJD are allies of the INDIA bloc. The BJP, the AJSUP, the JD(U) and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) are all members of the NDA.
Exit Poll Prediction:
In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti won the majority of exit polls. As per the so far counting, the MVA only received 85 -112 seats while Mahayuti received 175 -195 seats. According to the Electoral Edge survey, the MVA would win 150 seats leaving 121 for the Mahayuti led BJP.
In Jharkhand, Axis My India projected that the INDIA alliance will win in Jharkhand with a 45 percent vote share. JMM is already going towards victory by 49 seats as the majority score 41.
So far BJP secured 220 seats in Maharashtra, Indian Congress secured 48. In Jharkhand the INDIA alliance JMM secured 49 and BJP with 29 seats.
