Zomato Increases Platform Fee to Rs 10 Amid Festive Rush
Are you planning to order sweets , food, and gifts for your loved once on Diwali by placing an order on Zomato? If yes, then there is an update for you. Ordering from Zomato will cost you a bit more this Diwali as the company has increased its platform fee from Rs 7 to Rs 10.
Zomato explained in an app notification that this slight fee hike is necessary to keep services running smoothly during the busy period of festival season. “This fee helps us keep Zomato running,” the message read.
When the Platform fee was initiated in August 2023 it was Rs 2 that time company stated the reason that to improve the company’s margins and drive profitability. Over the time, it gradually went up: to Rs 3, then Rs 4 in January 2024, and even temporarily to Rs 9 during New Year’s Eve. Now Zomato comes up with this latest increase at the time of Diwali the extra Re 1. After this it will add around Rs 65 crore annually to the revenue of Zomato.
To strengthen its financial position in the market Zomato set up the new plan to raise up to Rs 8,500 crore through a qualified institutional placement following its recent acquisition of movie and event ticketing businesses from a digital payments firm.
