Zerodha Founder Nikhil Kamath To Donate 50% Of His Wealth

Nikhil Kamath has decided to donate his 50% wealth, his net worth is 9,074 crore. His brother & Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath had also donated ₹100 crore in 2022.

Nikhil Kamath, the co-founder of Zerodha, a successful online trading platform in India, has made headlines for his decision to donate 50% of his wealth. 

With a net worth of $110 crore, Kamath has joined The Giving Pledge, an initiative started by Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates, and Warren Buffett. 

The Giving Pledge encourages the world’s wealthiest individuals and families to commit to donating the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.

Kamath is the fourth Indian to join this community, following the footsteps of Azim Premji, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Rohini Nilekani, and Nandan Nilekani. 

Expressing his dedication to making a positive difference in the world, Kamath believes that the foundation’s goal of fostering social justice aligns with his moral principles and objectives.

Kamath’s journey to success began as a school dropout when he started working full-time at the age of 17. 

The stock markets played a crucial role in shaping his career, and he has spent nearly two decades working in this field. 

With investing as his primary area of expertise, Kamath devotes most of his time to evaluating investments in both public and private markets.

In addition to Zerodha, Kamath has founded other ventures such as Gruhas for private investments, the hedge fund True Beacon, the fintech incubator Rainmatter, and the Rainmatter Foundation, which supports organizations combating climate change.

The Giving Pledge’s 13th meeting recently took place, where Kamath was welcomed into the group. During the meeting, participants discussed strategies to enhance the efficacy and impact of their charitable donations.

This year, 241 philanthropists from 29 countries have joined the initiative, including notable figures like Reid Hoffman, Elon Musk, Melanie Perkins, and Cliff Obrecht.
