Modi squad is back in action. Yogi Aditya Nath has been re-elected as Uttar Pradesh’s new CM. In his existing leadership continuation, he has Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak included in his cabinet as Deputy CMs, while a few prominent ministers in the first term have been dropped as well. These inclue Satish Mahana, Shrikant Sharma, Dinesh Sharma and Siddharth Nath Singh.
This is for the first time in the history of UP after 37 years that a CM has been re-elected for the second time to serve for a period of another 5 years. His oath taking ceremony culminated at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow where the top brass from the Centre were in attendance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh were among the top BJP leaders present at the mega swearing-in ceremony.
Adityanath was administered oath by governor Anandiben Patel at the jam-packed stadium. He was a Member of the Parliament from the Unnao Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2009. Strangely, Maurya has been retained despite having lost the elections in the Sirathu constituency.
Brajesh Pathak, who served as a cabinet minister in the previous Yogi Adityanath government, is now the second deputy chief minister replacing Dinesh Sharma. A prominent Brahmin leader of the party, he won the Assembly polls from the Lucknow Cantonment seat in the 2022 state Polls. The new CMs cabinet is going to have more than 50 ministers. Former Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya is amongst the first newly elected BJP legislators to takes oath as a minister after Adityanath. According to reports, she is one of only five women who have been able to make their place in the new cabinet of 52 ministers. Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak took oath as deputy chief ministers, followed by others. According to the official list, the BJP has retained 21 ministers from the old cabinet, while 31 are fresh faces. As many as 22 ministers have been dropped
