For a long time, it’s been rumored that Apple has been working on an external power bank that will help recharge just magnetically to the back of 12-series iPhones, utilizing the MagSafe battery charger.
The famous Apple leaker Jon Prosser has uncovered a new report on MagSafe in his online podcast Genius Bar, he insists that a new version of the MagSafe will offer reverse charging technology.
The reverse charging technology was already introduced by many Samsung phones, whereby many gadgets like Bluetooth earphones or smartwatches can be inductively charged using the rear of the phones. Apple users are hoping that if this technology comes in upcoming devices then it could help charge AirPods or iWatch by keeping it on the rear side of the battery.
According to Prosser, Apple is planning to work on two versions of MagSafe battery, one which will be a standard version and to top version with reverse charging. Yet, Prosser’s source is uncertain and there is no official announcement by Apple Inc. on this.
Apple renewed its MagSafe branding in 2020 when the iPhone 12 was launched. Apple has shown a new connectivity port utilizing a magnetic wireless MagSafe charger to charge iPhones.
Apple has always been ahead of its time in introducing new gadgets with advanced technology. Since the launch of its first iPhone, the company has kept surprising its users with high-tech gadgets and standing up to its brand name.
Since 2019, there have been reports regarding a reverse charging device arriving when the iPhone 11 was launched. However, the feature is still awaited on MagSafe accessories for the iPhone 12 series. It would surely be a big surprise if the future devices offer reverse charging technology in 2021.
