Will Centre be criminalising marital rape in India?

Crimnalising marital rape is a major onooing concern in India at the moment and upon being questined for its stance by the  Delhi High Court , the Central government said that it is looking towards a constructive approach.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher was the one leading the bench and he said. “The matter was mentioned in the morning by the learned SG and he was saying that the government was considering a constructive approach to the matter.”

On Thursday, the Indian government said that it is considering suggesting from the state government, the Chief Justice of India, MPs and others on the matter of criminalizing marital rape. There are some serious changes that will have to be made to bring comprehensive amendments to the criminal law.

The bench is currently examining several petitions seeking the crimniastions of marital rape. He told about this even during the hearing saying that the Solicitor General Tushar

The lawyer representing the central government Monika Arora told the bench that the Indian government was looking for a ocmprehnsive approach as far as amending the crimnal law is concerned especially when it is about inclusion of section 375 (rape) of the IPC. She said that they have invited suggestions from all Chief Ministers of all state governments…the Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of all high courts…judicial academies, national law universities, the Bar Council of India, Bar council of all courts” to form a document that would support the argument of changing the basic law.
