Who will replace the vacancy of secretary and treasurer in the BCCI?
Based on the given information the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will be conducting a Special General Meeting (SGM) on January 12, 2025 to elect the new Secretary and Treasurer for the board. On Thursday, the members of the BCCI attended an emergent meeting of the Board’s Apex Council which was held at the Headquarters and they finalised the date of SGM in it.
The given information states that the Emergent meeting must be conducted 21 days after the resignation of the bearer and SGM must be conducted with a minimum notice period of 45 days & the successor must be elected/appointed.
The former election commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti will be appointed as the electoral officer for the election of Secretary and Treasurer of BCCI. He has been appointed according to the constitution of the BCCI which insists on appointing an electoral officer before four weeks of the event.

Jay Shah resigned his designation of Secretary of BCCI after five years and took the office of ICC (International Cricket Council) as its Chairman on December 1, 2024. Shah became the youngest Chairman of ICC ever. On the other hand, the Treasurer Ashish Shelar resigned his position after joining the Cabinet of Maharashtra government on December 15, 2024. The BCCI constitution states that a minister cannot be positioned in the office-bearer responsibility.
Though speculations are circulated around the social media, the official announcement and appointment of the vacant positions will be known after the January election.
