What TMC is failing to understand about Goa politics?

West Bengal – Trinamool Congress is looking to expand into other states as it is slowly differentiating politics from West Bengal to other states. This means getting involved in politics from Goa, Meghalaya, and many of the North-Eastern states.

It has been three months since five primary members, including former legislator Lavoo Mamlatdar, resigned from the party. It shows that there is credibility lacking in the party which essentially comes from the fact that the TMC effective politics is not applicable in Goa.

The timing is extremely crucial as the coming months will see assembly elections in the state and losing confidence in the meeting.

While submitting resignation to TMC chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee, “We had joined the AITC with a hope that it would bring brighter days for Goa and Goans. But it is unfortunate to bring to the notice that AITC has not understood Goa and Goans.

Mamlatdar joined Banerjee and co in September and became one of the first few local leaders to join the Trinamool Congress. It was considered a huge advantage for the party as this time, TMC had decided to contest all 40 seats in the Goa Assembly polls scheduled in February 2022.

It was a strategic move by the leader when he joined TMC as earlier he was the one who openly criticised the West Bengal-based party when the time required, he quickly joined TMC. “I was under the impression that TMC was not a communal party,” said Mamladar. He also added that all those promises were broken as on December 5 an alliance was declared between Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Trinamool Congress.
