Why Are Machines Worshiped On Vishwakarma Jayanti?

Vishwakarma Jayanti is a day when we pay homage to Lord Vishwakarma, who is the divine architect and engineer. It’s a tradition that dates back to ancient times when our sages recognized the importance of craftsmanship and the role of machines in various industries.

Lord Vishwakarma is regarded as the first engineer in ancient history. According to the Vishwakarma Purana, he created several inspiring structures like the –

  • Pushpak Viman (an ancient flying chariot)
  • Indrapuri
  • Lanka (the kingdom of Ravana)
  • Dwarka (Lord Krishna’s city)
  • Hastinapur (the city from the Mahabharata era).

He’s not just the greatest architect; he’s also a master of Vastu Shastra, machine building, and aircraft knowledge.

On Vishwakarma Jayanti, people worship tools and equipment related to industries to boost efficiency and craftsmanship, so that they can get the benefits of business expansion, wealth, happiness, and prosperity.
