What Has Actually Happened In Haryana’s Nuh Violence? Know The Truth.
In Nuh district, Haryana, there was violence caused by some Islamists on Monday. A religious procession called “Jalabhishek Shobha yatra,” organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), was attacked while passing through a Muslim-majority area.
The attackers threw stones, set cars on fire, and injured several people, including two home guards who lost their lives. The situation escalated, and tensions gripped different parts of Haryana.
On Monday, a mosque in Gurgaon was set on fire and the naib imam (assistant imam) was killed by a mob of 70-80 people. The police have identified some of the attackers and are taking action.
The imam and another person were injured, with the imam having stab wounds. The police have arrested several attackers and are increasing security around places of worship.
In response to the violence, the Haryana government requested the central government’s help. As a result, 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), comprising about 2000 personnel, were deployed to Nuh until August 6, 2023. This force includes units from different security agencies, such as the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and RAF.
Following the violence, internet services were suspended in the region to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors.
The VHP president, Alok Kumar, made a video statement urging the police and administration to rescue the devotees who were stuck at various locations, including temples and near the police station.
Amid the violence, a Shiv temple in Nalhar played a crucial role in providing shelter and safety to hundreds of people who were injured during the religious procession.

Many of them had participated in the yatra and sought refuge in the temple after being attacked with stones, sticks, and petrol bombs. Some of the injured were waiting to be rescued and needed medical assistance.
There is ongoing high tensions in Haryana’s Mewat region, which has seen issues related to terror activities, cow smuggling, and forced religion conversions in recent years.
