‘We Need Strong Leaders, Not Just One Strong PM’ to Battle Coronavirus Pandemic, says Rahul Gandhi

Last updated on February 13th, 2023 at 04:21 pm

On Saturday, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi declared that the Narendra Modi government requires delegating powers to the states. He stressed that the coronavirus pandemic should be contained at the district level. He pushed for more noteworthy transparency by Center on the plan to re-open the economy, as the lockdown 3.0 ends on May 17.

Rahul had been comparing the lockdown to a “pause button,” and the virus could spread like fire when you un-pause it. Rahul asserted that PM Narendra Modi’s “style” might be useful in different conditions, but without bringing everyone on board, this battle would be difficult.

“It might work for PM, however when the nation is confronting such a phenomenal health emergency, we don’t require just one strong PM, but also solid Chief Ministers and Governors as well,” Rahul expressed.

According to Rahul Gandhi, the way states and the Centre marked Covid-19 areas as red, orange, and green zones, whereas, if it had been prepared at the district magistrates’ level, it would have been comprehensive as they carry precise ground data.

He proceeded to push for the NYAY plan, which requires immediate cash transfer to poor and needy people. Also Included the MSMEs as prompt cash is essential to resuscitate the industries when the lockdown is lifted.

He prompted the media to avoid sensationalizing the coverage of the outbreak. Especially, emphasizing the need to understand that the death rate from this virus is somewhere in the range of one and two percent. It is very important to keep in mind that the senior citizens and kids are at a higher risk for Covid-19.

The Indian people, the government, and the media must identify the definite nature of coronavirus before reaching or implementing any future arrangements to lift lockdown, Rahul asserted.
