Venkaiah Naidu Releases Book On Iskcon Founder & Encourages Community Services

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu suggested making community services compulsory in schools & colleges during the release of a book on  ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada.

“Sing, Dance, and Pray,” a biography of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, was published here on Sunday by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu (ISKCON).

Author of the book is historian Hindol Sengupta. On the 125th anniversary of his birth, Srila Prabhupada is honored in the book.

Bhakti, according to Mr. Naidu, is ingrained in Indians. On the 125th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s birth, he remarked, “It is very vital for our younger generation to return back to our roots and pursue the path of non-violence, spirituality, and world brotherhood.”

He also felt the book was a befitting memorial to Srila Prabhupada. According to Mr. Naidu, “His life showed us the special route of supreme consciousness, ethereal enduring inner serenity, and salvation.”

Mr. Naidu continued by saying that Srila Prabhupada took in the outcasts of society and gave them joy and fulfillment in life.

ISKCON has tried to uplift the general public via nonsectarian, nonreligious forms of worship, he stated.

He lauded the attitude of service at ISKCON Bangalore that gave rise to The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the largest NGO-run school lunch program in the world.

“Akshaya Patra provides an excellent service to communities and impoverished children. For a better tomorrow, we must keep up with our Indian concept of “Share and Care,” according to the Vice President.

Venkaiah Naidu Proposes Making Community Services Mandatory

On Sunday, M. Venkaiah Naidu, vice president, advocated for fostering a culture of “sharing and caring” among young people by suggesting that community work be made mandatory in schools and universities.

The vice president urged young people to learn from revered spiritual figures like Srila Prabhupada and internalize their traits of discipline, hard work, patience, and empathy in order to become better people.

According to a statement released by the Vice President’s Secretariat, as cited by PTI, he said:

“You must always rise above limiting notions of caste, gender, religion, and region and work for creating unity, harmony, and peace in society.”

At the publication of Srila Prabhupada’s biography, “Sing, Dance, and Pray: The Inspirational Story of Srila Prabhupada,” Mr. Naidu was there.

Srila Prabhupada, according to Mr. Naidu, was a torchbearer for the idea of egalitarianism because he welcomed individuals who were shunned by society and gave their life meaning.
