The list was posted fresh today amid a flurry of tweets by the BJP MP. In the tweet, Varun Gandhi has openly condemned the events in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri. But the BJP was quick to respond brushing off the omission as a “routine exercise”.
It was simply put as an omission that means the person may not be serving the interest of the party anymore. A senior BJP leader said to the media recently that, “There are other senior leaders from UP who have become part of the council in their place. There are at least ten. They must have lost their utility or relevance.”
The violence heating up against the government amongst the farmers is being curtailed well by the ruling party. Other leaders apparently acknowledged that the Pilibhit MP’s stance did not go down well with the top leadership.
In the Indian political scenario, it seems, there is no space for truth and justice. Varun Gandhi has repeatedly spoken in favour of the farmers’ community and against the Centre’s new farm laws. His mother Maneka Gandhi has also been sympathetic to the farmers’ cause.
Former Union minister Birender Singh, who was also seen as sympathetic, has been dropped as executive member. So has Subramanian Swamy, who was seen as being critical of the party of late. A few days back, a senior MP’s son was caught running his car over some farmers of which eight lost their lives. The opposition party’s top leadership was arrested without an FIR when she questioned the incident. Till date, no arrest has been made; neither has the MP resigned or sacked, something that the opposition is shouting out to be done as a form of justice served.
