US Open Super 300: Sankar Muthusamy, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen Register Wins
In the US Open Super 300 badminton tournament, Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and Sankar Muthusamy made impressive starts.
PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and Sankar Muthusamy have started their US Open Super 300 campaigns on a positive note, with Sindhu and Sen securing comfortable wins in their first-round matches.
Muthusamy, on the other hand, achieved a remarkable victory over a higher-ranked opponent.
Sankar Muthusamy achieved a significant victory by defeating the 32nd ranked player, Nhat Nguyen, in the first round. The young Indian player dominated the match, winning with a score of 21-11, 21-16.
Muthusamy, a silver medalist at the World Junior Championships, will now face Misha Zilberman from Israel in the second round.
If Muthusamy and Lakshya Sen both win their second-round matches, they will face each other in the quarter-finals.
Lakshya Sen, fresh off his triumph at the Canada Open Super 500, began his campaign at the US Open with a comfortable win against Finland’s Kalle Koljonen. Sen secured a straight-game victory with scores of 21-8, 21-16. He will now take on Jan Louda in the second round.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu, the Olympic medalist, started her tournament with a straight-games win over American qualifier Disha Gupta.
Sindhu exhibited her prowess and won convincingly with scores of 21-15, 21-10 in just 27 minutes. In the second round, Sindhu will face Chinese Taipei’s Sung Shuo Yun.
On the other hand, Ruthvika Gadde and B Sai Praneeth faced defeats in their respective matches. Gadde lost to Lin Hsiang Ti with scores of 21-14, 21-11, while Praneeth put up a tough fight against second-seeded Li Shi Feng but ultimately lost with scores of 16-21, 21-14, 19-21 in a match that lasted 74 minutes.

The former Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap had to withdraw from his match against Koo Takahashi of Japan due to an injury.
