Union Government calls the OIC’s remarks ‘motivated and misleading’

Karnataka – On Tuesday, the Union government commented on the remarks made by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)  on the hijab row that started in Karnataka last week. The government termed it as ‘motivated and misleading’.

They also stated that the 57-member bloc making such statements is being ‘misused by vested interests’ for their anti-India agenda in construction.

The Ministry of External Affairs noted that they have noticed another misleading statement from the General Secretariat of the OIC. The statement did not comment extensively on the hijab row, it did mention the incidents of making controversial turns in the country.

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the ministry, said, “Issues in India are considered and resolved in accordance with our constitutional framework and mechanisms, as well as democratic ethos and polity.”

Not only this, the ministry further hinted that whatever statement OIC has made has communal interests and that is the reason why the bloc cannot appreciate the realities of the country. The official also blamed the group for carrying out their nefarious propaganda against India. The OIC’s General Secretariat addressed the hijab matter on February 14 saying that they are deeply concerned about the controversy. They also pointed out the so-called ‘Dharm Sansad’ event which was held in Haridwar, Uttarakhand last year in December.
