Traditional British Education System Meant To Produce Servants: PM Modi

PM Modi claimed that the Traditional British Education System is intended to make more servants. The NEP is going to revolutionize Indian education & youth life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that the British education system that India inherited was designed to produce a “servant class” for the British aristocracy and that much of it is still in place.

He continued by saying that the National Education Policy 2020 creates opportunities for young people to use a cutting-edge educational system with an Indian ethos to find solutions to global issues.

3-Days Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam

On Thursday, Varanasi’s Banaras Hindu University hosted the 3-days Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam on the execution of the National Education Policy.

PM Narendra Modi said,

“The foundation of the NEP 2020 is to take education out of narrow thinking and connect it with the modern ideas of the 21st century.

There has been no dearth of talent in our country. But unfortunately we inherited a system where the meaning of education was to get a job.

The British designed the education system to fulfill their needs. Things did change post-independence, but a lot left to be done. The education system created by the Britishers was never part of the Indian ethos.”

Objectives of National Education Policy

When discussing the NEP’s role in establishing a new, modern system, the prime minister stated:

“We should not just make youth with just degree-holding candidates; we should design our educational system to develop the human resources the nation needs to move forward.”

“In order to identify solutions, we must examine the specifics of the difficulties and issues. The NEP is making it possible for students to study Indian languages.

I am optimistic that India will become a top international destination for higher learning.”

The prime minister asked universities to consider how they may collaborate with the government in many sectors, saying that ‘latest concepts and innovative ideas’ should be discussed during the summit.

The NEP Summit With Multiple Universities

More than 300 educators from public & private universities, including vice chancellors and directors, attend the meeting to talk about the execution of NEP 2020.

Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister of education for the Union, all attended the summit.

Revolution In Education Sector

PM Modi also mentioned a significant upgrade to the nation’s educational system. In the nation, numerous new IITs, IIMs, colleges, and institutions are opening.

He stated that after 2014, there was a 55% increase in the number of medical colleges that were established.

Admissions to institutions will be more straightforward and equitable because of the unified entrance exam.

“Studies in the mother tongue are now possible thanks to the National Education Policy. Sanskrit and other old Indian languages are also being continued on in this sequence.”

India To Be A Global Education Hub

Modi expressed confidence that India can become a significant ‘global hub of education’. He said,

“Guidelines have been issued to prepare Indian higher education as per international standards. Special offices have been established in 180 universities for international affairs of the institutions.”

Special offices have been set up in 180 universities for the institutions’ foreign affairs, and experts have been urged to be aware of global standards in the sector.
