The Great Khali Joins BJP

The former wrestling superstar ‘The Great Khali’ has now joined the BJP. Speaking to the media, he said that he was strongly influenced by the party’s national policy and felt compelled to join it, therefore.

Also known as Dalip Singh Rana, he was known as the eighth tallest person in 2014 and went on to make headlines in the entertaining version of freestyle wrestling. Khali’s inclusion into the party comes days ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls. It is worth noting that Punjab will go to the polls on February 20.

Khali has been much in the limelight as the 49-year-old sportsman was seen lending support to the farmers protesting in Delhi borders in 2020, against the Centre’s farm laws. The wrestler had appealed to people of India to support the agitating farmers.

The former superstar suffers from an abnormality that made his grow so tall, called Acromegaly. Speaking in favor of the farmers, he was vocal on how farmers would not get their due and the margins are eaten up in the middle before the crop reaches the cities.

Speaking over the Farm law, he said, “They will buy it (crop) for ₹ and sell it for Rs200. The laws will also harm daily wage workers, roadside vendors; the common man will suffer.” Khali had made his professional wrestling debut in 2000. Before kickstarting his WWE career, he was an officer for the Punjab Police. Already added in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021, he has also worked in a few English and Hindi movies too. The saffron party seems to be taking on anyone and everyone who is either cross with Congress or speaking anywhere in favour of what matters to the nation. The shifting between parties has been quite swift in the last few months, with many shifting loyalties after feeling let down by one or the other.
