The General Secretary of Congress, Priyanka Gandhi takes the oath as MP of Wayanad
The fourth day of winter session of the Indian Parliament began with the swearing-in-ceremony of Priyanka Gandhi as the Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha for the Wayanad constituency. She is following the legacy of her brother Rahul Gandhi who was the former MP of that region. Priyanka Gandhi recorded a landslide victory in her debut parliamentary election in Wayanad with 4 lakh votes difference with the other candidates.
With a constitution copy on one hand, Priyanka Gandhi took the oath as the MP of Wayanad. She hinted her representation for the region by wearing the Kerala Kasavu Saree. She becomes the third member of her Gandhi family to become the MP in the Parliament after Sonia Gandhi (Mother) and Rahul Gandhi (Brother).
Priyanka pinned a gratitude note for the people of Wayanad after her pivotal triumph as the MP of Lok Sabha on her X,
“My dearest sisters and brothers of Wayanad, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me. I will make sure that sure over time, you truly feel this victory has been your victory….Thank you for giving me this honour and even more for the immense love you have given me”
The Member of Parliament of Thiruvananthapuram constituency, the senior leader of INC Shashi Tharoor and her party Indian National Congress has congratulated the newly selected MP, Priyanka Gandhi on their X account.
