Squash World Cup 2023: India Enters Semifinals With 4-0 Win Over South Africa
In the ongoing Squash World Cup, India secured another victory by defeating South Africa, further strengthening their position at the top of Pool B. This win has propelled them into the semifinals.
Tanvi Khanna emerged victorious in the opening match, defeating Hayley Ward with a score of 7-4, 7-2, 3-7, 7-2. In a dominant display, Tanvi won all but one game in the match.
In a thrilling match, Saurav Ghosal emerged victorious over Dewald van Niekerk. In the second match, the player won within three games with scores of 7-6, 7-4, and 7-1, making it a largely one-sided affair. India secured a 2-0 lead with their latest victory.
Joshna Chinappa emerged victorious over Lizelle Muller in the third match of the tie. In a largely one-sided affair, the scores were 7-4, 7-3, 3-7, and 7-1. In the tie, India secured an unbreakable lead of 3-0.
Abhay Singh emerged victorious over Jean-Pierre Brits with a score of 7-4, 3-7, 7-6, 7-5. In a stunning victory, India emerged triumphant with a 4-0 win in the tie.
India secures the top spot in Pool B with 12 points following their victory. With 10 points, Japan secures the second place.
Chennai has been selected as the host city for the Squash World Cup 2023. The fourth iteration of the team championship has returned after a 12-year absence and will be ongoing until June 17.
Chennai is set to witness a fierce competition as eight teams battle it out for victory. The participating teams include India, Australia, Colombia, Egypt, Hong Kong China, Japan, Malaysia, and South Africa. Egypt is the current champion, having won the championship in 2011.
The tournament is divided into two stages: the group stage and the knockout/classification stage.
In the group stage, the teams have been divided into two pools consisting of four teams each.
Chennai 2023 Squash World Cup pools have been announced. Pool A comprises Egypt, Australia, Malaysia, and Colombia.
Four countries, namely India, Japan, South Africa, and China, have been placed in Pool B.
During the group stage, teams will face off against the other three teams in their pool in a series of single-legged round-robin matches.
In the upcoming tournament, teams will be competing in pools with the top two teams from each pool moving on to the semifinals.

The remaining two teams from each pool will participate in matches to determine their rankings in a classification playoff system, with the fifth through eighth spots up for grabs.
The Squash World Cup 2023 will showcase four teams, each consisting of two male and two female players. In the event of a draw during the knockout round, the victorious team will be determined based on the number of games won or lost by each team during the tie.
