Owing to his increasing popularity and various humanitarian efforts, Sony Sood has become the face of the Delhi government’s initiative ‘Desh ka Mentor’.
Ever since the actor started his philanthropy during the pandemic outbreak, there has been a demand in the public for the actor to step into politics. Many Twitter accounts have even suggested the actor to stand for Prime Minister in the coming years, which the actor jokingly ignored.
Every time there is speculation that the actor might be entering politics, the actor directly denies those rumors very quickly. However, the actor has been continuously meeting leaders of various political parties which have suggested things otherwise but the actor has been very adamant about not joining any party any time soon.
As for the Delhi government, he will just be part of this initiative. On Friday, the actor met with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and could be seen smiling in the photograph while talking to the Delhi head. He said, “Today, I have been given an opportunity to mentor lakhs of students. There is no greater service than guiding students. I am sure together we can & we will.”
Kejriwal also credited Sood’s effort for Covid-19 survivors among his other initiatives. He said that Sonu Sood has always been there for people whenever they needed him. He also added that whatever governments could not do, he did for the people. “We are appealing to people to be a mentor for children studying in government schools,” he added.
To this, Sonu appreciated Kejriwal’s efforts as well. He said that in his eyes, Kejriwal is a visionary and this can be proven from the fact that whenever people talk about education, Delhi is always included.
Many felt that this was in preparation for Punjab elections but Kejriwal tarnished all those expectations with the announcement of Sonu Sood as the face of ‘Desh Ke Mentor’. Earlier there were talks of the actor joining the Maharashtra government with the position of Mayor in 2022 but the actor quickly stopped the rumors saying that he is happy as a ‘common man’.
