Shubman Gill Becomes No. 1 ODI Batter, Replacing Babar Azam

The ICC ODI rankings now place Indian cricketer Shubman Gill as the top batter. to displace Pakistan’s Babar Azam. The latest rankings, just out ahead of the Champions Trophy, reflect Gill’s exemplary performance in the recent India-England ODI series.
The opener had a very important part to play in leading India to a 3-0 series victory with two half-centuries and a century. Blessed with good form, he surged to the top position in the ICC rankings with 796 rating points, thus displacing Babar Azam, who has 773 points. This is the second time that Gill has reached the top ranking, having briefly occupied the pole position in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
This was followed by the captain of India, Rohit Sharma in 3rd place with 761 points, and Heinrich Klaasen (South Africa) and Daryl Mitchell (New Zealand) in 4th and 5th places respectively.

While, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana takes the place of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to assume the No. 1 position among bowlers with 680 rating points based on an extraordinary showing against Australia, where he took four wickets. Other bowlers on the chart include
