The nation’s second prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, was born in a Kayastha family on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh.
His father, Munshi Sharda Prasad Srivastava, taught first grade. The name of his mother was Ramdulari.
Lal Bahadur was referred to by his family as Nanhe since he was the youngest member of the group. Lal Bahadur’s father went away when he was just one and a half years old.
Lal Bahadur was taken by his mother to visit his maternal grandfather Hazarilal in Mirzapur after his father passed away. He went to primary school while residing in Nanihal.
Following this, he completed his studies at Kashi Vidyapeeth and Harishchandra High School. He replaced Srivastava with Shastri after earning the title from Kashi Vidyapeeth.
Lalita, the daughter of Mirzapur resident Ganesh Prasad, was married to Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1928. Six children—four sons (Harikrishna, Anil, Sunil, and Ashok) and two daughters (Kusum and Suman)—were born to them.

Lal Bahadur Shastri actively participated in all of the key initiatives and movements of the Indian independence movement. He also spent a number of times in jail.
Lal Bahadur Shastri served as the 6th Home Minister of the country. Later he was appointed as India’s 2nd Prime Minister.
He became the nation’s second Prime Minister in 1964 as a result of his respectable reputation.
Lal Bahadur Shastri died in Tashkent, Soviet Union Russia, on January 11, 1966. Although a heart attack was reported as the reason of death, his passing is still a mystery.
