Reliance Retail has launched its fashion & lifestyle departmental store, Reliance Centro by taking over 312 stores of Big Bazaar, Brand Factory & Central Stores.
With the launch of “Reliance Centro,” a latest apparel and lifestyle department store concept, Reliance Retail hopes to reach more people with mid- to high-income levels and democratize fashion in India.
In Vasant Kunj, Delhi, the first Reliance Centro store, measuring 75,000 square feet, has begun accepting customers.
A variety of clothing, cosmetics, lingerie, luggage, shoes, and accessories from more than 300 national and international fashion companies will be available in the new format.
With over 300 Indian and foreign brands, the new department stores want to democratize fashion in India by expanding its reach and consumer connections across categories like clothes, footwear, cosmetics, lingerie, sporting, luggage, and accessories.
After the ownership transfer of more than 200 Big Bazaar stores, 34 Central stores, plus 78 Brand Factory stores to the company after Future Group failed on payments for renewing leases earlier this year, the Centro model from Reliance Retail will take over Future Group’s Central sites.
Reliance Retail is a division of Reliance Retail Venture Ltd (RRVL), which also owns Abraham & Thakore and Clovia among its portfolio of fashion and lifestyle brands.
According to recent reports, the company is in negotiations to purchase Arvind Fashions’ rights to the LVMH-owned Sephora cosmetics retailer.
After the American clothing company split ties with Arvind Fashions in 2020, the company earlier this year inked a long-term franchise agreement with Gap.
Reliance Retail officials stated in a press release,
“Reliance Centro’s core offerings are curated to make it the one stop fashion destination for all the fashion conscious mid-premium segment customers.
For the fashionistas of New Delhi, Reliance Centro is sure to appeal to their evolving tastes and meet the need for high definition fashion, through all seasons and for all ages.”
