Ranil Wickremesinghe sworn-in as the new Sri Lankan President. Although the procedures to choose a new president of Sri Lanka have been finished, the crisis has not changed.
Following the resignation of the former president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Ranil Wickremesinghe has been elected as the new leader of the country.

However, after winning by a majority of 134 votes to 82, neither Wickremesinghe’s future nor Sri Lanka’s political situation appear to be getting any easier.
The explanation is that Wickremesinghe is thought to be friendly with the Rajapaksa clan. In Sri Lanka, it is widely believed that Mahinda Rajapaksa’s removal as prime minister in May was due to the family’s confidence that he would not act against their best interests.
In any case, Ranil Wickremesinghe is a well-known figure in local politics. Six times, he served as Sri Lanka’s prime minister.
They belong to the same tribe as the same leaders, which is why Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a severe situation.
That’s why the protesters raising slogans of ‘Go Gota Go’ on the streets of Colombo were also demanding the resignation of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
On the same day that protestors occupied the presidential home in Sri Lanka, Wickremesinghe’s private residence was also set on fire.
This was a clear signal that Wickremesinghe would not be accepted, even by those who were upset with the Rajapaksa family.
The nation’s political class at the moment is either incapable of comprehending the sentiment of the populace or has resorted to willfully ignoring it.
As a result, as soon as the new President’s name was announced, people left their homes.

The cry “Ranil go home” is now again echoing through Colombo’s streets, which had appeared to be peaceful for three to four days.

They must not only appease domestic demonstrators but also persuade international organizations to approve the bailout deal.
As long as the protests continue, it is unclear how helpful international organizations will find discussions with the new Sri Lankan government.
The positive aspect of all of this for India is that the general populace is friendly to it. India has provided more assistance to Sri Lanka amid the crisis than any other nation, totaling $4 billion so far.
It is true that India has promised to keep providing support to the citizens of Sri Lanka. India is prepared to assist the neighboring nation even more.
But the government and citizens there will be responsible for managing the domestic unrest by themselves.
In the midst of this political crisis many people of both countries have started suggesting that Sri Lanka must be merged with India again.
