Rahul Gandhi Foot In The Mouth Statements Go Off Hand With BJP

Delhi – Rahul Gandhi’s opinionated statements showing Congress in good light have him with his foot in his mouth, again. The whole skirmish has now blown into a controversial debate and started with ideological statements made in a book by former Union minister Salman Khurshid over Hindutva.

In response, Mr. Rahul Gandhi from the Congress party is said to have called for the need to differentiate between Hindutva and Hinduism, saying the former encouraged violence and the latter preached peace and harmony.

His words let out a signaled message against the philosophy being followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and about what kind of Hindu religion they are promoting. His comments come after references in Khurshid’s book, Sunrise over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times stirred a political controversy and sparked angry reactions from the BJP itself.

The book has references that compare Hindutva to Boko Haram and the Islamic State. Freedom of expression is a sparce commodity in the democracy today, with neither the media nor the author to have the freedom to express his or her personal opinions either.

Apparently, Mr. Gandhi’s statements have clearly referred to the BJP and RSS’s “hateful and divisive” ideology calling it a method to overshadow the “loving, affectionate and nationalistic” ideology of Congress, and he also stressed on the importance of spreading the Congress ideology.

In response, the BJP spokesperson, Sambit Patra, turned around and said that Gandhi’s comments highlighted his and the Congress’s ‘pathological hatred for Hinduism’. “It is at the behest of the Gandhi family, particularly Rahul Gandhi, that the other leaders of the Congress party, be it Salman Khurshid, Digvijaya Singh, Rashid Alvi, Mani Shankar Aiyar, among others, often speak against Hinduism.

This pathological hatred for Hinduism among the Congress leaders gets its traction, energy from Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family,” he added. Later, congress has been seen distancing itself from Mr. Khurshid’s book but the damage already seems to have been done. Union Minister RK Singh, meanwhile, has also lashed out at Mr. Khurshid over his recent statement where he compared ‘Hindutva’ with ‘Jihadi’ organizations.
