Mamata Banerjee had successfully teamed up with Prashant Kishore to take over BJP in West Bengal Assembly elections. Kishore is now also helping Banerjee expand her vision of making TMC (Trinamool Congress) a national party. The expansion plans for party are in states like Mizoram and Goa that go for elections next year.
Prashant Kishore tweeted, “The IDEA and SPACE that Congress represents is vital for a strong opposition. But Congress’ leadership is not the DIVINE RIGHT of an individual especially, when the party has lost more than 90% elections in last 10 years. Let opposition leadership be decided Democratically.”
A day earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had questioned the sheer existence of UPA (United Progressive Alliance). On Wednesday, after her meeting with NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) chief Sharad Pawar, Ms Banerjee said “There is no UPA now.” She also criticized Rahul Gandhi, without taking his name, for taking trips abroad, adding politics cannot be done by spending half the time outside the country.
Prashant Kishore has been targeting Congress party and Gandhi family for some time now. While Gandhis wanted to reel in Kishore for reviving the party, the differences in opinions were quite evident. Prashant Kishore had taken a dig at Congress leadership as they were trying to bring the Lakhimpur Kheri incident to their benefit. Kishore had tweeted, “People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of GOP led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappointment. Unfortunately there are no quick solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP.”
