Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ongoing Hijab row on Thursday as he said that people are finding new ways to oppress the rights of Muslim women.
He said this during his first physical poll rally in Uttar Pradesh where he promoted Bharatiya Janata Party stressing that this party in power is needed in order to ensure Muslim women aren’t oppressed.
On Thursday, UP went for the first phase of voting for the ongoing Assembly Polls and addressing a part of the population, the leader said, “BJP government freed Muslim women from triple talaq. When Muslim women started openly supporting the Modi government, opponents got anxious. But we stand with every Muslim woman.”
The country witnessed a major controversy regarding wearing Hijab. The incident originated in Karnataka in January this year where six girl students were not allowed to enter their college while wearing Hijab. In no time, the issue took to various parts of the state and people jumped on the state government.
Not only this but on a central level too, the matter turned into a battle between the opposition and the BJP. The matter is currently in court. PM Modi found an opportunity to attack the opposition during the rally as he attacked them for carrying out ‘dynastic politics. He also stressed that all the previous governments did not care about the people but just themselves and the power. He also added that if they were the ones in power, the vaccines, which have been made available free of cost to the public, would have been sold off somewhere midway.
