PM Modi Criticizes Congress, Promises Development in Jammu and Kashmir
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on campaign trail in Jammu on September 28, 2024. He blamed congress party and promised development to the people of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
He said that Congress is headed and operated by urban Naxals and had questioned the Government about surgical strikes in the same way as Pakistan does. He said that J&K people want a government that is corruption-free, terrorism free and separatism-free.
The PM also brought up again the 2016 surgical strikes. He said terror groups now know that if they do wrong, Modi will find them even underground.
Prime Minister Modi accused Congress of supporting terrorism after India’s independence. He said these policies have resulted in constant breaches of the ceasefire at the border. However, he alleged that the BJP government was quick to act against such violations.
The PM said that Congress demands proof of the surgical strikes. He said that they are disrespecting soldiers who die for the country.
The former prime minister, Modi stated, neglected the Jammu region and discriminated against it. He said that BJP will win the ongoing J&K Assembly elections, given the high voter turnout in the earlier phases.
While addressing the rally the PM assured that the UT status of J&K is only a ‘stopover’ as he vowed to make it a state once again. He also assured jobs and development in Jammu.
Modi directly targeted three families – Congress, National Conference (NC), and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and said that people do not want them again. As to these political parties, he levels them to corruption, discriminating against others, terrorism, and separatism too.
The PM underlined that his government had brought the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme for armed forces while Congress had stalled it.

Modi said Congress, NC, and PDP are anti-Constitution parties. He said that they were stripping some groups of their voting rights and they did not conduct local elections. Instead, he said the BJP provided voting rights for West Pakistani refugees, Gorkhas, and Valmikis.
However, while delivering his speech Modi continued to invoke the BJP line on development, security and constitutional rights in J&K.
