PM Modi and Spanish President Sanchez Inaugurate Tata-Airbus Military Aircraft Plant in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez will jointly inaugurate the TATA Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat today. The plant is a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus Spain. This is first private sector Final Assembly Line for military aircraft in India, this step to set up manufacturing plant is a major boost for Indian aerospace sector.

ANI reported, ‘Apart from Tatas, leading defence public sector units such as Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd, as well as private micro, small, and medium enterprises, will contribute to this programme.’

In 2021, 56 C295 aircrafts were ordered and16 will be imported directly from Spain, while the remaining 40 will be manufactured in Vadodara.

Spanish President is on a three-day visit to India. After this inauguration President Sanchez will meet with industry leaders in Mumbai to enhance Indo-Spanish trade and cultural relations. He expressed his commitment to enhance ties with India in various sectors such as trade, defense, technology, and culture.

After the event in Vadodara PM Modi will travel to Amreli where he will launch projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore including road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and eco-tourism developments in Gujarat. These initiatives will boost the basic infrastructure and boost the growth of India.
