PM Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0: Eligibility? How to apply?
The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has released the information of many schemes which are focused on Urban development, housing and infrastructure in the PIB (Press Information Bureau). In which, the details about the Urban Housing and PMAY 2.0 has also been described.
Under the PMAY-U 2.0 new rental housing has been introduced which is aimed to provide sustenance to the population of migrants, working women, students, industrial workers, homeless, and other beneficiaries. Over 6 lakh houses received approval under PMAY-U 2.0 and the other sanctions for the other states will be finalised by March 31, 2025.

What are the four verticals of PMAY-U 2.0?
- BLC – Beneficiary-Led Construction
- AHP – Affordable Housing in Partnership
- ARH – Affordable Rental Housing
- ISS – Interest Subsidy Scheme
Eligibility Criteria – PMAY-U 2.0
Families (in urban areas) belonging to,
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS),Low Income Group (LIG) or Middle Income Group (MIG)
- Having no pucca house in any of their family member’s name
- The above mentioned households are categorised based on their annual income.
- EWS – Rs.3 lakh, LIG & MIG – Rs.6 & 9 lakh respectively.
Applicants who have received the benefits from any of the housing schemes in the past 20 years are not eligible.

The subsidy under PMAY-U 2.0 will be Rs.2.50 lakh per house.
- The eligible applicants can visit the official online portal PMAY-U
- Then, click the option ‘Apply for PMAY-U 2.0’
- Before proceeding further, read the guidelines properly and completely.
- You can check your eligibility with your details in the portal.
- Only eligible candidates will be proceeded to the next procedure
- Then give the Aadhaar number and the name (which is given in Aadhaar card) and validate your Aadhaar Card details.
- The rest of the required documents can be uploaded which must be in PDF format.
The size specifications are Income Proof – upto 200kb, Caste/Community Proof – upto 200kb and Land Document – upto 5mb.
