Pakistan Men’s Central Contracts 2025-26: Season of Big Changes
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its Central Contracts for the 2025-26 season, and this list has brought plenty of surprises. For the first time in recent history, the Board has not announced a category A contract for any player.
This sends a strong message that no one is bigger than performance. 30 cricketers are included in the list in total, higher than the 27 earlier. These players are distributed equally across Category B, C and D. There are 10 names in each group.

The absence of Category A signals at a clear shift in policy, aiming to make the structure fairer. The shake-up is part of the PCB’s long-term strategy. The focus is gradually shifting to a performance-first approach.
By expanding the list and not offering special treatment for star names, the Board hopes to maintain hunger and competition in the squad. This also brings the fresh talent an opportunity and the senior players plenty of motivation to perform better.
It must be emphasized here that senior stars, such as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizan – both selected for Category A last year – are demoted to Category B. This decision is going to surprise a lot of fans, but the Board is changing its plan.
