Pakistan Boxers Goes Missing In UK After Commonwealth Games 2022
The Pakistan High Commission informed that 2 Pakistani boxers went missing in Birmingham (UK) following the completion of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Pakistani boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan reportedly went missing, according to the Pakistan Boxing Federation.
The team management has notified the Pakistan High Commission in the UK and the appropriate authorities in London about their disappearance.
Boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan disappeared before the squad left for Islamabad, according to Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) secretary Nasir Tang.
As of Monday, the Birmingham CWG 2022 was over on 8th August. According to Tang, the federation officials who traveled with the boxing squad to the games still have their passports and other travel documentation.
He said that Suleman and Nazeerullah’s disappearance had been reported to the appropriate London authorities as well as the Pakistan High Commission in the UK.
According to Tang, the missing boxers’ paperwork was kept in accordance with the usual operational process for all sportsmen traveling from Pakistan.
A four-person committee has been established by the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) to look into the case of the missing boxers.
Pakistan finished the Commonwealth Games with 8 medals, including 2 gold, earned in weightlifting and the javelin throw, but no medals in the boxing tournament.
Just two months before the disappearance of the boxers, national swimmer Faizan Akbar vanished while participating in the FINA World Championships in Hungary.
Akbar, however, skipped the competition entirely and vanished with his passport and other important paperwork hours after arriving in Budapest. Since June, there has been no sign of him anywhere.
