Nepal Earthquake Today Magnitude 7.1 Strikes Tibet, Claims 32 Lives
A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze City, Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region, on Tuesday at 9:05 AM Beijing Time, with at least 32 people getting killed and 38 more injured. The China Earthquake Networks Centre determined that it was 28.5°N latitude and 87.45°E longitude and a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the local disaster relief authorities, the Changsuo Township Tonglai Village has many houses flattened mostly by a strong quake. Special emphasis has been placed on the needy areas, especially in Dingri County, which has been most affected by the disaster; therefore, emergency response social groups have been dispatched to those areas. The Tibet earthquake has called the imperative rescue and relief operations within the area.
