President Droupadi conferred National Sports Awards 2022 to 40+ sportspersons, coaches and institutions on Wednesday at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.
At the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi on Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu presented national sports honors to 38 other athletes, coaches, and organizations, including badminton star Lakshya Sen, world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen, and veteran Indian Sharath Kamal.

India’s highest athletic honor, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award, was given to Sharath Kamal, who earned three gold medals and a silver in the Commonwealth Games 2022 earlier this year.
In addition to Sharath, 25 athletes who had demonstrated consistency over a four-year period were given the Arjuna Award.
The Arjuna Award winners included boxing star Nikhat Zareen, who won the global title in May, Lakshya Sen, who won the men’s singles gold medal in badminton at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and boxer Amit Panghal, who won the world silver medal in 2019.
Along with these three, the Arjuna Award was given to triple jumper Eldhose Paul and steeplechaser Avinash Sable.
Avinash Sable won a silver in the men’s 3000m steeplechase and ended Kenya’s dominance of the podium in the sport at the Birmingham CWG.

Eldhose became the first Indian to win a CWG gold in the men’s triple jump and the first Indian to qualify for the final of the triple jump at the World Athletics Championships.
Coach Dinesh Lad of the Indian cricket team, which includes captain Rohit Sharma, won the Dronacharya Award in the lifetime category.
