Mumbai Extends Metro and BEST Bus Services for Ganeshotsav 2024
In preparation for Ganeshotsav 2024 Mumbai’s public transport authorities have announced extended services to accommodate the large number of devotees traveling late at night and early morning. Both Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) are set to increase their operational hours during the 10-day festival.
Extended Metro Services by MMMOCL
Starting from September 7, MMMOCL will extend its Metro 2A and Metro 7 services. These metro lines will run longer hours, allowing more trips for devotees attending late-night events.
Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Chairman of MMMOCL and MMRDA Commissioner, said, “Ganpati festival is a significant cultural event in Mumbai. It is our responsibility to provide seamless transportation to all devotees and citizens. By extending the metro train services, we are ensuring commuters have efficient and convenient travel options during the festival.”

BEST Bus Services and Special Night Routes
BEST will run 24 special night buses from September 7 to 16, aimed at serving devotees attending Ganeshotsav. These buses will operate between 10:30 PM and 6:00 AM, covering 51 key routes across Mumbai for added convenience.

BEST will illuminate 71 procession routes in South Mumbai with more than 2,500 lamps, creating a vibrant festive ambiance. The plan also includes lighting up 20 immersion sites and 39 artificial ponds to enhance the celebrations.
Managing Director of MMMOCL Rubal Agarwal said, “These additional services will ensure safe and reliable travel for all participants of the festival, helping to reduce congestion and improve convenience during this time.”
