Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan-2’ To Release Worldwide In New Year

The much awaited Chola Empire historical film ‘Ponniyin Selvan-2’ (PS-2) has been announced. The film will hit the theaters on April 28, 2023.
The makers of “Ponniyin Selvan,” a series of Tamil movies by renowned director Mani Ratnam, revealed on Wednesday that the second installment will debut in theaters around the world on April 28, 2023.
The historical play is based on the same-titled 1955 Tamil novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, which tells the tale of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, before he became Rajaraja Chola I, the great Chola emperor.
The release date was announced on the official Twitter page of Madras Talkies, one of the production companies behind the movie.
“Let’s raise our swords in the air as we wait for April 28th, 2023”.
Additionally, the creators provided a sneak preview of the eagerly awaited sequel.
The “Ponniyin Selvan” series, which is supported by Lyca Productions as well, has a stellar cast that includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others.
The movie’s script was co-written by Ratnam and Elango Kumaravel. Rahman, a frequent collaborator of Ratnam’s, will provide the soundtrack for the movie.
Along with the dubbed releases in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, “Ponniyin Selvan-I” was released internationally in Tamil in September. Currently, Prime Video is streaming the movie.

Both critics and viewers responded favorably to the highly anticipated movie’s premiere. Over 300 crores were earned by the movie globally across all languages.
Both Allirajah Subaskaran’s company Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam’s production company Madras Talkies supported it.
